Magnolia-licious Challenge DT - XO

Good morning!  Today I have my inspiration post for Magnolia-licious Challenge.  We have our usual 'Anything Goes' challenge with the extra option of adding lace this month.  I have used some gorgeous papers from the Magnolia-licious store by Maja Design from their Denim and Friends collection.
I have masked three stamps together to make my image: Porch Tilda, Swing Branch and Happy Swing.  I have painted them with Distress Inks using the no lines technique.  I have added some sparkle to Tilda's top with a Wink of Stella pen - this is a new addition to my stash and I love it!
I have used the branch and leaf Doohickey from kit 14 for the tree branches.    I love how they match the stamped branch.  I did a spot of doodling around the image here and there and added some butterflies punched with a Martha Stewart punch.
The tag was cut with a Doohickey die from the Easter countdown calendar and the XO was cut with a Tim Holtz die.  I've added lace, twine and flowers from my stash.
The hearts were cut with another die from kit 14.
I hope you like it and I've inspired you to join us over at Magnolia-licious.  Thanks for looking! x

Gorjuss Girl

Good morning!  It is a long, long, long time since I have used a Gorjuss Girl on a card, but after seeing all the bags and books you can get with them on now I thought one would be perfect to use on a card for my son to give a friend turning thirteen.
I painted her with Distress Inks as always.

I did a spot of doodling in the corner of the card to balance with the sentiment at the top.
For the sentiment I used individual letter stamps.  I also added a little doodle from the 'a' in happy.
The twine and button are from my stash.

I used the butterfly on the paper as an embellishment by cutting around one half of it so that it pops out above the papers.
I hope you like it and thanks for looking! x

Midweek Magnolia's #170 Midway Reminder - Pretty in Pink

Good evening!  Here's my midway reminder card for our current challenge at Midweek Magnolias - 'Pretty in Pink'.  I have used lots of dies from the last Doohickey kit and one of the new Tildas, 'Porch Tilda.'
I painted Tilda with Distress Inks using the no lines technique and added a few details to her trousers and face with a white gel pen.
The strawberries, teacup, saucer and spoon are all cut with dies from the Doohickey kit.
The doily and cute cupcake are also cut with dies from the kit.
I used the largest flower from the kit to create hydrangeas using ivory Foamiran from Magnolia-licious.  I also used pale pink stamens from Magnolia-licious too.  I used Aged Mahogany Distress Ink to colour the tips and centres of the flowers.
I hope you like it and I've inspired you to join us at Midweek Magnolias.  Pop over to the blog to see the rest of the team's gorgeous creations.  Thanks for looking! x

Good morning!  Continuing with the Star Wars theme today, here is another card I made for my daughter to give my son.  When I had the idea to make a Jawa card I originally intended to use brown and black cardstock until I spotted some hessian amongst the papers on my desk.  I died the hessian a  darker brown using Distress Inks and water.  It actually dried lighter than I wanted it but I didn't have time to dye it further, which was a shame.
I used black cardstock for the base and some amber gems for the Jawa's sparkling eyes under the drape of the hood.
I used some scraps of twine and ribbons I've saved from clothing labels to make the straps across the body.
I thought 'Utinni!', the Jawa's iconic phrase, could be a twist on 'You're turning', to make the phrase, 'You're turning thirteen!'  My kids got it instantly anyway, so that was good!  I used Webster's pages stickers for the phrase and added random dots of white and brown gel pens to give a sand effect around the edges of the card.
I hope you like it and thanks for looking! x

Good morning!  Today I'd like to share the card I made for my son's 13th birthday.  I think I'm somewhat in denial that I have a teenager in the house - it doesn't seem possible that he can be thirteen already!  I cut the card shape freehand and set about decorating it to look like representations of R2D2 and C3PO.  I had sketched out how I wanted it to look beforehand and am so pleased with the result.
Lots of fiddly cardstock slicing and snipping to make all the blue details on R2D2!  I used a red gem for the light on the top section along with a brad that I coloured black with a copic and a glass pebble for what I like to call his eye.
More fiddly cutting to make the vents and details on the bottom of R2!
I wanted to make sure I had C3PO's circle tummy detail on his half of the card.  I cut out several circles to layer them up.
I used some Prima fabric wire so that C3PO could have real wires showing!
I also used different curved pieces of card to add more detail on the lower part of C3PO.
I hope you like it and thanks for looking! x

Magnolia-licious DT - Anything Goes

Good morning!  It is time for another challenge at Magnolia-licious Challenge and this time our theme is 'Anything Goes with the option of Lace'.
I have used Flower Girl Tilda and painted her with Distress Ink using the no lines technique.  I have also used the mini beach huts stamp in the background.  I wanted the image to look like a black and white photo so when I'd finished painting I applied Glossy Accents over the entire image.
I have added lace in the top and bottom corners of the card.  The blue background paper is from Maja Designs.
I used the cloud Doohickey to create the clouds.
I have added some straws underneath the image.  I'm quite enjoying adding straws to my designs at the moment.
The butterfly was made using a Stempelglede stamp and coffee filter paper.  The flowers and twine are from my stash.
I hope you like it and I've inspired you to join us at Magnolia-licious.  Pop over to the blog to see the rest of the team's gorgeous creations.  As always the challenge is sponsored by Magnolia-licious with a fantastic prize for the lucky winner chosen at random.  Thanks for looking! x

Stempelglede DT - It's Your Day Brother

Good morning!  Today I'd like to share the birthday card I made for my brother recently using the Steampunk Journey stamp set from Stempelglede.

I painted the image using Distress Inks as always and for a nice colour pop painted the truck red.  My brother promptly informed me it is an old army truck and should be khaki.  All this time I'd thought it was some kind of bulldozer truck hehehe!  He even found a picture on the internet of the very truck - so that told me!  In future I shall paint it khaki only ;).

I added Glossy Accents to the head lights and windows.

I also added some gear charms from my stash.  The sentiment was written with Tim Holtz Chit Chat stickers.

I used another stamp from the set to create the gear stamping around the edge of the image.

I recycled a piece of leather twine from some jeans packaging to use in the top of the card.  I also did a lot of splattering with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I hope you like it and thanks for looking! x
